Come to the Table
Come to the Table is a 7-week study that serves as an invitation to each believer to go deeper in their relationship with the Lord.
The study begins with an obscure Old Testament story that involves King David and his table. This story sets the stage for the study as the journey takes us throughout the entire Bible. The study covers the work of Jesus on the cross as He secures our identity in Him; we will visit the man Zaccheus, the sisters Mary and Martha, and more.
The study includes Bible-study methods, weekly Biblical declarations, weekly intentional gratitude journaling, as well as practical application.
May your roots go down deeper with the Lord as you 'come to the table' to fellowship with Him.

Session 1
In the first session of "Come to the Table," Marjie Schaefer emphasizes the importance of worship and praise in each Flourish gathering, highlighting how praise releases the essence of who God is and confounds the enemy's ranks. Worship is presented as a powerful spiritual tool, capable of uplifting us even in difficult situations and aligning our minds with God's will through the reinforcement of Scripture. The session also introduces practical prayer practices, encouraging participants to pray with purpose and use Scripture as a guide.
Session 2
In Session 2 of "Come to the Table," Marjie Schaefer draws a powerful parallel between the story of Lodebar and the King’s table, highlighting the redemptive thread woven throughout the Bible. She emphasizes the importance of godliness, which begins with a heart devoted to the Lord and includes humility, obedience, and kindness, as exemplified by King David. The lesson calls believers to leave behind the barren mindset of Lodebar, embrace a Word-centered life, and reflect God's glory through grace, kindness, and love.
Session 3
In Session 3 of "Come to the Table," Marjie Schaefer discusses the transformative power of self-forgetfulness, drawing on Jackie Robinson's example of embodying Jesus' teachings both on and off the baseball field. She highlights the importance of focusing on the awe and majesty of God, which leads to a beautiful self-forgetfulness that shapes our thoughts and lives. Through Paul's teachings, she explores the nature of the human ego and how the gospel of Jesus Christ redefines our sense of worth and eliminates competition and pride among believers.
Session 4
In “Come to the Table: Session 4 - R’s of Relationship," Marjie Schaefer emphasizes the importance of rising above worldly messages to embrace the love of the Lord. She discusses the role of repentance in gaining greater knowledge of God and aligning our lives with His activity, highlighting that our bodies become temples of God at the moment of salvation. Schaefer encourages believers to live godly lives motivated by love and the Holy Spirit, presenting themselves as living sacrifices and allowing their minds to be transformed by the Word.
Session 5
In "Come to the Table: Session 5 – The Love of Jesus Keeps Me at the Table," Marjie Schaefer discusses how believers are welcomed into God's family with a permanent place at His table, emphasizing the necessity of a strong vertical relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. She highlights the privileges Christians have, such as sharing in God's glory, knowing His love, having His joy, and partaking in His holiness, all of which are made possible by the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Schaefer underscores the importance of unity within the church, reflecting Jesus' relationship with the Father and demonstrating God's love to the world.
Session 6
In "Come to the Table – Session 6: Jesus Provides a Place at the Table for Me and Others," Marjie Schaefer explores how Jesus invites everyone to His table, emphasizing the importance of grace and the transformative power of a relationship with Him. Using the examples of Zacchaeus and the woman with the issue of blood, Schaefer illustrates how Jesus meets us in our curiosity and faith, regardless of our shortcomings or past shame. She highlights the spiritual riches believers receive, such as mercy, grace, and wisdom, and encourages embracing our identity as guests of honor at Jesus' table, where we find love, belonging, and healing.
Session 7
In "Come to the Table – Session 7: Two Keys that Unlock our Identity," Marjie Schaefer discusses the transformative power of worship and understanding our identity in Christ. She emphasizes that the keys to unlocking our identity are the Word of God and worship, which help renew our minds and shape our lives. Through Scripture, she highlights the riches believers have in Jesus, such as being chosen, holy, blameless, adopted, and redeemed, and underscores the importance of embracing these truths to live a life that reflects God's glory.
Session 8
In "Come to the Table – Session 8: Jesus Brings His Friends to the Table," Marjie Schaefer emphasizes the importance of growing in Jesus through intentional Bible study. She contrasts Martha's welcoming spirit and hospitality with Mary's submission and dedication to listening to Jesus, highlighting the necessity of making Jesus central in our lives to avoid distractions and misplaced priorities. The session also addresses how focusing on Jesus rather than our own efforts or worries prevents spiritual burnout and fosters a deeper, more peaceful relationship with Him.
